1. Overview and Core Commitment

This AI Data Usage Policy explains specifically how data is handled in connection with the artificial intelligence features of the HiringSky Service and the third-party job posting data that powers the Matched Job Openings feature. It supplements our Privacy Policy and is intended to provide transparent, plain-language disclosure consistent with the FTC's 2023 guidance on AI transparency.

What we do

  • Use your data to generate your personal career content
  • Store your outputs securely in your account
  • Transmit data to Anthropic's API over encrypted TLS
  • Transmit lane-derived query parameters to JSearch to find current job postings
  • Delete data when you request it
  • Analyze anonymized, aggregated patterns to improve the product

What we never do

  • Sell your data to any third party
  • Use your data to train AI models
  • Share your data with employers without your explicit two-stage consent (see Talent Network)
  • Use your data for advertising or targeting
  • Share your resume or career data with other users
  • Combine your data with other users' data for external use

2. How AI Works in HiringSky

HiringSky uses Claude, an AI language model developed and operated by Anthropic, PBC, to generate the following AI-powered content within the Service:

Every piece of AI-generated content is produced in direct response to your personal input data and is associated with your individual account. No content is shared with, or generated on behalf of, any other user.

3. AI Data Flow โ€” Step by Step

You complete the intake questionnaire

Your answers are stored in your account in Supabase's encrypted database. No AI call is made at this stage.

You initiate content generation

When you click "Generate" in any module โ€” or when you message the AI Coach โ€” your relevant intake data, resume text (if provided), and prior module outputs are assembled into a structured prompt.

Prompt is transmitted to Anthropic's API

The prompt is sent from HiringSky's server infrastructure (hosted on Vercel) to Anthropic's API over an encrypted TLS connection. Your data never travels unencrypted.

Anthropic's Claude generates a response

Claude processes the prompt and streams a response back to HiringSky's server. The response is forwarded directly to your browser.

Output is displayed and saved to your account

The generated content is displayed to you in real time and then saved to your account in Supabase so you can access it in future sessions. It is never accessible to other users.

4. What Data Is Transmitted to Anthropic

Depending on which feature you use, the following data from your account may be included in the prompt transmitted to Anthropic's API:

We never transmit your email address, IP address, browser/device technical data, or Application Tracker history to Anthropic's API. Those data types are not included in AI prompts under any circumstances.

5. How Anthropic Handles Your Data

HiringSky accesses Claude through Anthropic's commercial API. The handling of API data by Anthropic is governed by Anthropic's own Privacy Policy and API Terms of Service, which are independent of HiringSky's policies. The following reflects Anthropic's stated practices as of the effective date of this Policy โ€” we recommend reviewing Anthropic's current policies directly at anthropic.com/privacy.

5.1 No Training on API Data

By default, Anthropic does not use inputs to or outputs from the API to train its AI models. This is a standard provision of Anthropic's commercial API terms for business customers. Your career data is not used to improve Claude or any other Anthropic product.

5.2 Anthropic's Retention Period

Anthropic may retain API traffic data (inputs and outputs) for up to 30 days for trust and safety monitoring, abuse detection, and policy enforcement purposes. After this period, the data is deleted from Anthropic's systems. Anthropic does not sell this data to third parties.

5.3 Anthropic's Security

Anthropic maintains enterprise-grade security infrastructure for its API, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and security monitoring. For details, see Anthropic's security documentation.

5.4 Limitation of Our Control

Once data is transmitted to Anthropic's API, its handling is governed by Anthropic's policies, which are outside HiringSky's direct control. HiringSky has no ability to modify Anthropic's data retention or processing practices. If you have specific concerns about Anthropic's data handling, you can contact Anthropic directly at anthropic.com.

6. Job Posting Data Flow โ€” JSearch

HiringSky's Matched Job Openings feature surfaces current job postings relevant to your chosen lane. To do this, we retrieve job posting data from OpenWeb Ninja's JSearch API, a third-party job aggregation service. JSearch is separate from Anthropic and serves a different purpose: where Anthropic generates content from your data, JSearch returns publicly available job postings from across the web.

6.1 Step-by-Step Job Data Flow

You complete your lane fork

Your Module 1 output produces role titles, industry tokens, and a per-lane seniority assessment. These become the basis for job search queries.

You visit Matched Job Openings

HiringSky's server constructs a JSearch query from your lane role titles, location, work mode, pay floor, search radius, and industry tokens. No name, email, or resume content is included.

Query is sent to JSearch over encrypted TLS

The query is sent from HiringSky's server to OpenWeb Ninja's JSearch API. Your personal identity is not revealed to JSearch.

JSearch returns public job posting data

JSearch returns job postings aggregated from across the public web โ€” titles, employers, locations, descriptions, salary ranges, and apply links. This is third-party data, not your personal data.

HiringSky filters, scores, and displays results

HiringSky applies a trust filter to apply-link destinations (only major job boards, direct employer ATS systems, gov/edu/mil sites, and verified employer domains are surfaced), then scores each role against your lane, then displays results to you. Roles are saved in your account so you can track them across sessions.

You apply on a third-party site

Clicking "Apply" redirects you to a third-party website. Once you leave HiringSky, that third-party site's privacy practices govern.

7. What HiringSky Stores

The following data is stored in your HiringSky account in Supabase's encrypted database:

This stored data is associated with your account and accessible only to you and to HiringSky's authorized infrastructure for the purpose of serving it back to you. It is not visible to other users, not shared with employers (except through the Talent Network opt-in described in Section 8), and not used for any purpose other than providing the Service to you.

8. Talent Network and AI Processing

The HiringSky Talent Network is an optional, future-facing feature that allows you to make a limited set of profile fields discoverable to employers when the employer-facing surface launches.

At the effective date of this Policy, the Talent Network employer-facing feature has not yet launched. Opting in today means your consented profile fields are stored in your account for later use; no employer can see your data through this feature until the employer-facing surface goes live, and you will be notified before that happens.

If you opt in, the following lane-derived fields will be visible to vetted employers in the future Talent Network feature:

8.3 No AI Processing for Talent Network

The Talent Network opt-in itself does not trigger any AI processing of your data. Your discoverable profile fields are stored and (in the future) displayed to employers exactly as you entered or generated them. No additional AI scoring, ranking, or profiling is performed on you for Talent Network purposes.

8.4 Withdrawal

You may withdraw your Talent Network opt-in at any time through your account settings. Withdrawal removes your consented profile fields from Talent Network records and prevents any future employer-facing visibility.

This section reflects our compliance with FTC guidance requiring clear disclosure of AI limitations at the point of use.

Claude is a state-of-the-art AI language model, but all AI systems have inherent limitations. AI-generated content in HiringSky may contain:

You are solely responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content for accuracy, appropriateness, and factual correctness before using it in any professional context, including submitting it to employers, posting it on professional networks, or incorporating it into any application materials.

HiringSky does not guarantee any employment outcome and does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated content. Similarly, HiringSky does not guarantee that job postings surfaced through the Matched Job Openings feature are current, accurate, or legitimate; you are responsible for evaluating any opportunity before applying.

11. Anonymized Analytics

We may analyze aggregate, anonymized usage data to understand how the Service is used and to improve it. This analysis involves data that has been stripped of all personally identifiable information and cannot be traced back to any individual user.

Examples of anonymized analytics we may perform: the percentage of users who complete each module; the average number of sessions before module completion; common patterns in module usage sequences; aggregate distributions of lane types chosen (strong vs. new); aggregate distributions of matched-role fit tier ratings; aggregate search radius and pay floor distributions across user cohorts (without any individual identification).

This anonymized analysis is performed internally and is not shared with or sold to third parties.

12. Data Retention

Your sprint data and AI-generated outputs are stored in your account for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or irreversibly anonymize your stored data within 30 days.

Anthropic retains API data for up to 30 days per its policies, after which it is deleted from Anthropic's systems. JSearch's retention practices are governed by OpenWeb Ninja's own policy.

Matched job openings remain in your account as long as you have roles tracked. Stale role records (roles that no longer appear in fresh JSearch fetches and that you have not engaged with) may be removed during normal refresh cycles.

Talent Network opt-in records are retained for the duration of your opt-in and removed within 30 days of withdrawal or account deletion.

13. Your Rights Over Your Data

You have the following rights with respect to your data stored by HiringSky:

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@hiringsky.com with the subject line "Data Rights Request." We will respond within 45 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your data rights.

Note: HiringSky can delete your data from its own systems. However, we cannot retroactively delete data that Anthropic may have retained during their standard 30-day API retention window, or query metadata that JSearch / OpenWeb Ninja may have retained. For requests related to data held by those providers, please contact them directly.
